Choir

We're underway…

Welcome to the Christmas Choir 2019

Wow! On Wednesday 2nd October we welcomed 50 ‘oldies and newbies’ to our 2019 Christmas Choir.

Highlights so far:

  • At our first rehearsal there was was a great buzz of anticipation
  • We were delighted to welcome our largest ever group of younger school age members
  • To balance the sopranos we are thrilled to have more tenors and basses than every before.

We still have a little room for one or two more to join but you better be quick – space is limited and the rehearsals are already underway.

It’s time to practice

This term we have a wonderful mix of old and new Christmas songs that is sure to have something to make you smile.

Creating moments…

Memories are made of this…
There is a saying that ‘Life isn’t a matter of milestones but of moments.’  There’s a lot of truth in that and looking back over the past few years we have some amazing ‘moments’ to look back on.  Many of us have found that singing is a choir can be a magical experience as one creates moments and memories through melody.

Sing for joy…
The Living Lordswood Community Choir was started  with the stated objective of bringing ‘Joy, hope and a sense of belonging’ to those who become part of the choir family and it has surpassed our wildest dreams. We started in 2013 with about 30 members but we seem to grow with each new season and last time about 50 people of all ages signed up. Because of its popularity and our commitment to the local community we promote it as a ‘local choir for local people.’

A place for you…
It is an open access choir and we accept people whatever their musical experience (or lack of it!) Moreover it is definitely ‘bloke’ friendly and has a great ‘3 generation’ family feel to it.
We are really excited about this Christmas choir.  Once again we have an eclectic choice of songs.  The choir’s conductor, Ian Williamson, has put together a delight mix of old and new songs – all with a wonderful ‘Christmassy’ feel.  Rehearsals start on 2nd October and we are looking forward to two Christmas performances in early December – one in the hospital and one in OakwoodPrimary School. This will be our 13th Charity Concert and we are expecting it to be the best ever! But as always we are depending on you for that!

Be the first to know…
This will be the 13th choir that Ian Williamson has led. As the choir grows and develops we are looking for someone to work alongside Ian in the future.  Please pass the word around and if you know of anyone who might foot the bill and please let us know so we can send them an outline of the ethos of the choir and more details of what the role involves.
